Roberto had younger brothers and sisters that were hurt in the crash. The deadly collision involved a motorcycle and Ford vehicle on W.T. Harris Blvd.
Many people have been killed in motorcycle crashes in Charlotte. At 1:30 a.m., Anthony was on a Yamaha motorcycle driving at an extremely high rate of speed when he collided with a Ford Fusion car that was attempting to make a left turn onto Hickory Grove Road.
4 people were in the Ford including Roberto Emanuel Ortiz, 14. Passengers of the Ford Fusion, Edgar Zabir Gonzalez-Perez, 20, Sara Perez, and a juvenile age 10 were hurt and transported to the hospital.
Roberto was injured and died at the hospital. Anthony died on scene. Both vehicles had heavy damage in the middle of the intersection.
Roberto had a creative flair, with a passion for drawing and puzzles, and he found joy in the rhythm of traditional Mexican music.
