Several Charlotte residents are accused of using stolen credit card information to book an expensive skydiving trip. The suspects were arrested in May 2024, they are Shyia E-Money Gatlin, 23, Maurice Hunter, 31, Jaylah Hyter, 24, and Alexis Chisholm, 25, and Michael Gatling, 24.

On December 26, 2023, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into credit card fraud that occurred at Piedmont Skydiving located at 500 Airport Road in Salisbury, NC. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Investigators received information that in November of 2023, multiple people had booked skydiving trips online using credit cards that allegedly did not belong to them.
The suspects arrived at Piedmont Skydiving for the trip and completed liability waivers listing out their real information to include, name, date of birth, address, and driver license numbers. Shyia E-Money Gatlin was even featured in our too pretty for jail series, take a look here.
The business also took photographs of the offenders as a part of their experience. The suspects are then accused of going skydiving on the dime of the identity theft victims.
In December 2023, Piedmont Skydiving received notice from credit card companies that the real card holders were disputing the charges.
Investigators went to the business and obtained the evidence already collected and later confirmed the identities of the suspects.
Arrest warrants were obtained for Shyia, Maurice, Jaylah, Alexis, and Michael. The suspects were arrested in May 2024 charged with obtaining property by false pretenses.
