66-year-old billionaire Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his jail cell on August 10, 2019 at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan. Officials say Epstein killed himself. Paramedics tried to revive Epstein after he was found hanging in his cell about 6:30 a.m.
Life-saving measures were initiated immediately by responding staff. Epstein was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, and subsequently pronounced dead by hospital staff.
Epstein was in jail on numerous charges that he sexually assaulted female minor victims.
This was Epstein’s second known attempt at committing suicide; just last month he was found unresponsive in his jail cell.
