A 37-year-old man in South Carolina was sentenced to life in prison for getting a 10-year-old girl pregnant.
Tony Singleton was found guilty on August 7, 2019 of first-degree criminal sexual assault. Authorities say they took DNA evidence from the fetus after the girl had an abortion and it proved Tony was the father.
In April 2016 Tony came into a room while the girl was watching SpongeBob SquarePants at a home in Estill, South Carolina, Tony turned off the lights and raped her. Tony rolled the victim on to her backside and removed her underwear then proceeded to have vaginal intercourse with the 10-year-old juvenile female.
Prosecutors said jurors deliberated less than an hour before finding Tony guilty. Circuit Judge Carmen Mullen then handed down the life sentence without parole.
