POLICE CHIEF FOUND DEAD, WAS REPORTED MISSING

Colquitt Chief of Police Kenny Kirkland, 51, was found dead on August 25, 2021 in Miller County, GA.

Chief Kirkland was reported missing after he failed to show up for work and church. Authorities tracked his cell phone data and found the chief dead inside his car in heavy bushes near the roadway.   

Early reports show Chief Kirkland’s car ran off the road into a heavily wooded area. It appears Chief Kirkland was having a medical emergency when he drove off the road and crashed. 

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Chief Kirkland’s body will undergo an autopsy by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Kirkland was named police chief in May 2020.

Chicago Police Officer Ella French was shot in the head and killed on August 7, 2021.
