On April 1, 2021 Cynthia Estrada-Lopez plead guilty to homicide by child abuse in Lexington County, SC she was sentenced to 38 years in prison. Cynthia killed her 4-year-old daughter Lilly Lopez all in front of Cynthia’s 5-year-old son.
Lilly was killed on July 31, 2017 in Lexington County. Cynthia started by dehydrating Lilly for hours and then beating her on her head and body. Cynthia then placed duct tape over Lilly’s mouth while her son was watching. Cynthia then restrained Lilly to a bed. Cynthia removed the tape and Lilly began gasping for air. Cynthia admitted that she waited at least an hour before calling 911.
First responders found Lilly unresponsive on the living room floor and began CPR. However, Lilly was pronounced dead after arrival at the hospital. Lilly had numerous bruises to her head and body.
An autopsy showed that Lilly died as a direct result of aspiration of food particles into her lungs and dehydration along with blunt force trauma to Lilly’s head. During questioning Cynthia’s son said that he saw her mother put tape over Lilly’s mouth. Cynthia told police that she had found Lilly deceased in the hallway.
Eventually Cynthia confessed to killing her daughter. Cynthia will not be eligible for parole.
