Another sheriff deputy has been arrested under the poor leadership of Garry McFadden

Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office Detention Officer Seth El, 61, was arrested on April 28, 2025 accused of stealing cash at the jail in Charlotte, NC. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Cops opened an investigation after a report was made regarding missing money from personal
belongings at the jail.

After reviewing surveillance footage the police investigative team gathered allegedly sufficient evidence
to obtain a warrant for the arrest for Mr. El.

Seth was arrested charged with misdemeanor larceny. Mr. El’s employment with the sheriff department began March 25, 2020 Seth was fired from the law enforcement department on the day of his arrest.

Multiple inmates at the jail have died in their cells, several jail guards have been arrested for crimes in the jail, and some guards were even stabbed and beat inside the jail by inmates.

The jail has been mismanaged under sheriff Garry McFadden. Bugs were even in the kitchen of the jail.
