CHARLOTTE, NC– 45-year-old Keith Ricks (Top) was killed in 2016 after Gerson Gutierrez, 27, (Left) ran a stop sign and drove off. Gerson was allegedly harbored by his girlfriend 21-year-old Shaquala Davis (Right).
Gerson recently was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, felony hit and run, reckless driving, and driving while license revoked. After a two-week trial, Gerson was sentenced to 16-29 months in prison.
He was also sentenced to an additional 240 days in custody; that sentence was suspended pending his successful completion of 60 months of supervised probation.
In April 2016, Gerson ran a stop sign on Mallard Creek Road, striking Keith, who was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Gerson then fled the scene. Keith ultimately died from his injures. Eyewitness testimony and physical evidence collected from the scene led to Gerson’s arrest and conviction. Gerson was arrested in 2016 at a motel on West Sugar Creek Rd.
There is no indication on convictions for Shaquala at the moment.
