At 2:33 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
Maurice was walking on the right side of the roadway along Reagan Drive when he was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Darren.
The pedestrian was not walking in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing.
Officers located Maurice unresponsive lying on the side of the road. Maurice was pronounced deceased at the scene. Impairment is believed to be a factor in this collision. Toxicology results are pending. Darren was arrested charged with felony death by vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
