Leah Randall, 43, is accused of being involved in a wreck on June 20, 2019 that killed a man and injured 5 other people in Charlotte, NC. Lester Anderson, 63, is the man that was killed. On the night of the accident Lester was rushed to the hospital but on July 8, 2019 he died from his injuries.
Leah was not arrested until December 5, 2019.
The investigation indicates that a Honda Accord allegedly driven by Leah was traveling on Billy Graham Parkway next to a Buick Enclave driven by Lester. The Honda was allegedly unable to maintain its lane and struck the Buick Enclave.
This caused the Buick Enclave to veer left off the road, cross over the grass median, and into oncoming traffic. The Buick Enclave then struck a Mazda head-on. This caused the Buick Enclave to enter the next lane of travel and into the path of a Hyundai Sonata, which struck the passenger’s side of the Buick Enclave.
The Honda Accord allegedly failed to stop or remain on the scene. The driver and three passengers of the Buick Enclave were transported by to a Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver of the Mazda and driver of the Hyundai were also transported to a Medical Center.
On Friday, June 28, 2019, a Honda Accord matching the description of the Honda Accord that was observed driving away from the scene of this crash was located in east Charlotte. The Honda Accord that was located had damage consistent with striking the Buick Enclave.
The Honda Accord was seized and processed by Crime Scene Search.
On Monday, July 8, 2019, the driver of the Buick Enclave identified as Lester succumbed to injuries sustained from the motor vehicle crash and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
As a result of continued investigation into this case, Major Crash Unit detectives identified Leah as a suspect and warrants were issued for her arrest. On Thursday, December 5, 2019 she was arrested.
Leah is charged with Felony Hit and Run and Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle.
