Dennis Pegues, 56, was sentenced to 68 years in prison on September 23, 2024 for raping underage girls. Dennis was a father with a teenage girl at the time of the sexual assaults, she was a cheerleader. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
On multiple occasions from 1998-2004, Dennis took advantage of a position of trust and sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl multiple times. The survivor testified that Dennis told her, “No one will believe you,” if she told anyone about the assaults.

A second teenage girl was also raped by Dennis. When the girl was 15 years old, she was babysitting at the home where the first victim lived with Dennis.
Prior to Dennis going out for the evening with other adults, he told the teen that there was alcohol in the home that was available to her.
The girl drank some of the alcohol and when the adults returned home, Dennis offered to drive her home.

On the ride home, Dennis took her to a strange house where he led her to a bedroom and raped her. Neither of the girls knew about the other’s assaults by Dennis until 2018.
Over the years, from 1998-2018, both girls grew into women and slowly disclosed the sexual assaults to various family members, all while Dennis had a young teenage girl himself. His daughter was a cheerleader.
In 2018 the girls went to police to report the sexual assaults. Dennis was arrested in 2019 and charged with several counts of indecent liberties with a child and rape. Click here to see more child sex exploitation articles.
At trial a jury convicted Dennis of two counts of first degree rape, statutory rape, two counts of sexual activity in a parental role, and first degree sexual offense.
Dennis was sentenced to 68 years in prison.
