MAN FOUND DEAD IN MOUNTAIN ISLAND LAKE, FELL OFF HIGH ROCKS IN FRONT OF FAMILY

Luciano Mejia, 24, was killed at Mountain Island Lake on Mountain Point Lane, Charlotte, NC. The victim was climbing on rocks and fell to his death. 

Luciano died on April 19, 2023, he was at the lake with his family fishing. Luciano was on large rocks in the middle of Mountain Island Lake when he slipped and hit his head. 

Luciano fell into the lake and was underwater for 10 minutes. His family eventually pulled him out and began CPR and called 911. 

EMS arrived via boat and continued CPR to no avail. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. 

Multiple small abrasion like defects consistent with the described rock impact were observed on Luciano after the fall.
