MAN DIES AFTER HIT WHILE RIDING BIKE, ALCOHOL RELATED

Date:

Matthew Hoffman, 40, died on November 25, 2018 after being hit by a SUV. Alcohol use is a suspected contributing factor for the victim.

On November 21, 2018 Matthew was riding his bicycle when he began making a right turn into a parking lot area at 108 E. Morehead Street.

As Matthew was making the right turn, he abruptly turned back left into the roadway and into the path of a 2015 Honda SUV.

The Honda subsequently struck the bicycle and then struck the building structure at 108 E. Morehead Street. Speed and alcohol/drug use are not contributing factors for the operator of the Honda SUV.

Matthew was not wearing a helmet while operating the bicycle.

Matthew died from his injuries days later.
