Lawrence Drumgoole, 66, was arrested on October 30, 2024 in Charlotte, NC accused of having sex with a 10-year-old girl. The sex abuse allegedly began in 2012 when the girl was 10 years old. The woman is now 22-years-old. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
The now adult female victim contacted detectives in Charlotte to report that her family member Lawrence sexually assaulted her multiple times when she was a little girl, starting at the age of 10, prosecutors say.
The victim advised the sexual abuse started while the family was living in New York and continued after they moved to Charlotte.
While living in Charlotte the victim says she was raped by Lawrence and made to perform sexual copulations on the private areas of Lawrence with her mouth on a regular basis, according to police.
As a result of one of the sexual encounters, Lawrence impregnated the victim. She became pregnant and gave birth.
Detectives obtained buccal swabs from the victim, the victim’s child, and Lawrence. The swabs were sent to the Western Lab for DNA testing.
On October 15, 2024 police received the results of the DNA testing. The lab report indicated that Lawrence is 796 billion times more likely the father of the victim’s child.
The age difference between the victim and defendant is 43 years. In late October 2024 Lawrence was arrested charged with rape of a child and indecent liberties with a child.
