51-year-old Anthony Walton died at the Mecklenburg County Jail on December 26, 2023, just one day after Christmas. The jail is located at 801 East Fourth Street Charlotte, NC.
Anthony was an inmate at the jail. On December 26th at 9:30 pm, a medical emergency was called by a detention officer in the housing unit where Anthony was assigned.
Anthony was discovered to be unresponsive. Detention personnel started resuscitation efforts and continued until emergency medical personnel arrived.
At 9:40 pm, the Mecklenburg EMS arrived and transported Anthony to Atrium Main Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 10:17 pm.
