On September 19, 2021 a young Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools student died from COVID- 19. The student attended Stoney Creek Elementary School in Charlotte, NC and was a 7-year-old first grader.
The death was reported to the Mecklenburg County Public Health Department. There were over 70 COVID-19 deaths in Mecklenburg County for September 2021.
The school district said counselors are available if students need support. Last week Eric Ward the senior principal at Harding High School died suddenly.
Although we do not know if Eric’s death was COVID-19 related.
