Khalil Echoles was stabbed to death allegedly by his own dad near Charlotte
Jehaaz-Akil Echoles, 31, was arrested accused of murdering his son Khalil Echoles, 5, in Pineville, NC on July 9, 2026.
The homicide was at apartments on Sabal Park Dr. Jehaaz is accused of breaking into his girlfriend’s apartment by knocking down the door. The suspect is accused of going into Khalil’s room and stabbing him in the neck.
Khalil died on scene. The victim was transported to Atrium Health Hospital in Pineville and pronounced deceased.
Jehaaz fled the scene and was arrested at Taco Bell located at 10917 Carolina Place Pkwy. Jehaaz is charged with murder. He requested an attorney and did not speak with officers. A go fund me has been raised to help the family.
