FATHER ACCUSED OF GIVING 2-MONTH-OLD DAUGHTER TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY

19-year-old Felix Rivas is accused of giving his own daughter life threatening brain injuries in Charlotte, NC. Felix was arrested on December 19, 2019.

On December 4, 2019 detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit and Crimes Against Children Unit conducted a felony child abuse investigation that occurred at a residence located on Reid Oaks Drive Charlotte, NC.

Officers responded to Novant health after hospital staff reported that they were treating a two-month old female infant that was suffering from a traumatic brain injury. Detectives from the Crimes Against Children and Homicide Units responded to investigate this incident. 

Hospital staff informed the detectives that the infant’s injuries were life-threatening.   

On December 19 the father of the infant, Felix Rivas was interviewed by Crimes Against Children Unit Detectives. At the conclusion of the interviews, Felix was arrested and charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, and two counts of Felony Child Abuse- Inflicting Serious Injury.
