DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION WORKER KILLED IN CRASH

A South Carolina Department of Transportation worker was killed and two more were injured in a crash on Highway 178 in Greenwood County, South Carolina on June 10, 2021. The dead worker is 59-year-old Charles “Chuck” Kennedy.

The SC-DOT crew was on the way to a work site when another vehicle crossed the center line and collided head on with Charles and the other SC-DOT employees.

The collision killed Charles.

Charles had been employed by SC-DOT since February of 2020. Two other members of the crew in the vehicle were injured and transported to a local hospital.

Charles leaves behind his wife, a son, a daughter, and a number of grandchildren. 

Charles was an avid fisherman, and a racing fan. He also enjoyed playing golf.
