COP KILLED AFTER BEING RAN OVER, HIS GIRLFRIEND IS CHARGED

John O’Keefe, 46, was killed on January 29, 2022. He was a police officer with the Boston Police Department. The officer’s girlfriend identified as Karen Read, 41, allegedly ran over Officer John in Boston, Massachusetts during a snow storm after they both had a few drinks.

Officer John and Karen had drinks at a bar. Karen then drove her SUV to a house party thrown by other police officers in a blizzard. Karen dropped Officer John off at the party, Karen chose not to get out because she was having stomach pain.

Officer John then went to the back of the SUV, possibly to get something from the trunk. Karen is accused of backing up into Officer John and running him over. Karen then drove home.

Hours later Officer John was found near the house party on the snow covered ground

unresponsive. John had skull fractures, swollen eyes, arm abrasions, and signs of hypothermia. Officer John’s clothes were covered in blood with vomit and he was cold to the touch.  

Karen was later arrested and charged with manslaughter, motor vehicle homicide, and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident causing death. Karen is a adjunct professor at a Boston area college.
