Miles was with family and friends on Lake Norman for the 4th of July holiday. Miles went for a swim in the afternoon.
A very strong under current sucked Miles to the bottom of the lake. He tried to fight the current, but the force was too powerful.

The family and friends of Miles saw what was occurring and tried to help. But Miles was out of reach. It is not known if Miles was wearing a life vest.
Emergency crews spent days searching for Miles and divers were used, but Miles could not be found in the dark murky water.
It was not until July 6th, 2 days later that officials used a drone device equipped to go in water that Miles was found dead in the bottom of Lake Norman.

Dive crews then went to the location and pulled Miles from the water. His body was cold to the touch and purple/blueish in color.
The water caused slight decomposition to his body.
