ANOTHER PRISON INMATE DIES FROM CORONAVIRUS IN NORTH CAROLINA

Date:

A 70-year-old inmate housed at the Neuse Correctional Institution in Goldsboro, NC has died from the Coronavirus. This marks the second inmate at Neuse Correctional Institution to be killed from the virus.

The inmate tested positive for COVID-19 on April 18, 2020 and died at the hospital on April 29, 2020.

The other inmate housed at Neuse died on April 23, 2020 from the Coronavirus. Prisons and jails are particularly vulnerable to infectious diseases because inmates live so closely together.

470 of the prison’s 770 inmates had been diagnosed with COVID-19, according to the Wayne County Health Department. Several of the prison’s staff members have also tested positive for COVID-19.

So it is apparent that a major outbreak of COVID-19 hit the Neuse Correctional Institution. Some of the inmates have symptoms of runny noses, coughs, and glassy red eyes.

A prisoner at Pender Correctional Institution died on April 21, 2020 from the Coronavirus.
