Several dead after American Airlines plane and Army helicopter crash over Washington D.C. within a week after Donald Trump became president
On January 29, 2025 a deadly crash occurred in Washington D.C. An American Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 commercial plane collided with a Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk Army helicopter around 10:30 p.m. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
American Airlines flight 5342 is the passenger plane involved. As the plane was flying towards a runway at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, the helicopter collided with it.

The explosion illuminated the sky bright orange. Everyone onboard the 2 aircrafts were killed. The plane dropped into the Potomac River following the air collision.
Federal aviation officials and emergency crews quickly arrived on scene. Flights in the area were immediately grounded at other airports nearby. The American Airlines flight 5342 had departed from Wichita, Kansas.
This catastrophe occurred within a week on Donald Trump becoming president of the United States. The airspace in and around the D.C. area is very hard to navigate due to flight security restrictions in government zones.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
