Desiree Cartin Rodriguez, 27, was arrested December 20, 2019 on two counts of lewd and lascivious battery.
Desiree is an English teacher at Doral Academy Prep in Doral, Florida, she is accused of having a sexual relationship with one of her students.
Police said they received a tip from an anonymous source earlier this week. From there, they brought in the student who is a 15-year-old boy, who confirmed his relationship with Rodriguez and told investigators that he had videotaped some of their sexual encounters.
Detectives say they reviewed the footage and verified their identities.
Rodriguez was brought into the Doral Police Station Friday morning, where she confessed to the allegations, police said.
The principal of Doral Academy Prep, Carlos Ferralls, sent the following message to parents:
“Our administrative team was made aware of an inappropriate situation involving a teacher and student. Immediately upon learning of this incident, action was taken. Law enforcement was contacted and the teacher was terminated immediately from her position at our school. We are not at liberty to discuss further details because of an ongoing police investigation. Keeping our children safe is our number one priority. Our safety protocols and procedures allowed us to address this situation quickly and with little disruption to our students or their class time. I appreciate your trust and support.”
