Luis Pineda-Acheta, 37, had warrants for his arrest. But when a SWAT team came to take him in, it was obvious that Luis wasn’t going to jail without a fight.
On May 23, 2019 in Charlotte, NC special detectives attempted to serve arrest warrants on Luis at a residence located on North Wind Place. Luis had outstanding warrants for his arrest for multiple charges including Kidnapping, Strangulation, and Assault on a Female, regarding a Domestic Violence Assault that took place on May 21, 2019.
Authorities attempted to make contact with Luis but were unsuccessful. Members of the SWAT Team and Negotiators were activated and responded to the scene, set up a perimeter and continued to attempt to make contact with Luis.
As a precaution, officers relocated nearby residents.
SWAT breached the residence, but Luis climbed up a chimney and hid in walls for 9 hours, avoiding the SWAT team.
After a nine hour standoff with SWAT and not speaking with Negotiators, Luis was taken into custody without further incident. He has been transported to the Hospital due to a medical issue.
