8 TSA AGENTS TEST POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS AT CHARLOTTE DOUGLAS AIRPORT

Date:

A Transportation Security Administration agent at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, NC has tested positive for COVID-19. The TSA screening officer at the airport tested positive on Wednesday July 8, 2020. Eight TSA agents have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Charlotte Douglas Airport, six of whom were screening officers, according to the TSA.

The latest TSA officer infected with Coronavirus last worked from noon to 8:30 p.m. on July 2 in the C checkpoint area. TSA has had 1,033 employees test positive for COVID-19.

663 have recovered and six have died.

TSA has several Coronavirus related safety measures that include requiring officers to wear face coverings and gloves, changing gloves between pat downs and upon passenger request, and increased cleanings and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces and security screening equipment.

TSA has implemented procedures to increase social distancing and reduce direct contact between our employees and the traveling public whenever possible – without compromising security. Adjustments include increasing distance between passengers as they enter the security checkpoint queue, placing visual reminders of appropriate spacing on checkpoint floors, and staggering the use of lanes in the security checkpoint where feasible.

Passengers who believe they may have come in contact with an infected person within the last 14 days are urged to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations for travel-associated exposure, according to the TSA.
