6 PEOPLE SHOT AFTER HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME

Date:

Authorities say at least six people were shot during a high school football game in Mobile, Alabama. The game was between LeFlore High School and Williamson High School. There was a fight in the stands several minutes before the end of the game. All of the people shot were teenagers.

Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste says that 10 people in all were injured Friday night August 30, including six people who were directly shot and one person who had a seizure shortly after the shooting at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.

The gunshots sent football players and cheerleaders running for their lives. Band members and fans were seen ducking for cover in the stands. Some players and coaches were seen laying on the field to avoid any flying bullets.

The police chief says the victims were between 15 and 18 years old. Five patients were hospitalized in critical condition.

Chief Lawrence Battiste says:

“It goes back to the idea that why are young people bringing this type of violence to public events? We’re going to have to be more aggressive on our end. We’ve got to make sure they understand we will not tolerate juvenile violence in our neighborhood.”
