Raquan Smith, 16 is charged with the shooting of a pregnant woman at a Charlotte, NC strip mall.
On June 22, 2019 Alani Blake, 19, was shot while she was pregnant on Beatties Ford Road. Alani was able to give birth to the baby girl victim after the shooting.
Alani was in the parking lot of a strip-mall shopping center when she was shot. Paramedics responded and transported the victim to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center where hospital staff delivered her baby.
On July 5 Raquan turned himself in at police headquarters in Charlotte. Raquan is officially charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.
