UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT GETS DEPORTED, WAS WANTED IN EL SALVADOR FOR MURDER

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) removed Salvadoran national Juan Hernandez from the United States on Tuesday June 9, 2020. Juan is wanted in El Salvador for his involvement in two homicides.

Juan was escorted by immigration officers assigned to a field office and turned over to Salvadoran law enforcement authorities without incident.

“This individual, wanted for two counts of aggravated homicide in El Salvador, entered the United States illegally and continued to commit violent crimes,”

said John Tsoukaris, field office director for ERO Newark. Tsoukaris continued,

“Beyond his immigration violations, he proved himself to be a substantial threat to community safety. ERO, as well as local and state law enforcement, are to be commended for their brave and cooperative efforts in making sure he was removed from the country.”

In 2012, Cumberland County convicted Juan of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, robbery and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

On March 12, 2020 the New Jersey Department of Corrections released Juan to ICE custody. On April 22, 2020 an immigration judge ordered Juan removed from the United States to El Salvador.
