OFFICERS SEIZE OVER $3 MILLION IN METHAMPHETAMINE AND COCAINE

Date:

$3,066,900 in methamphetamine and cocaine were intercepted in two separate smuggling attempts in Hidalgo, Texas.

On Aug. 24, 2021, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers encountered a Ford F-150 truck at the Hidalgo International Bridge arriving from Mexico driven by an 18-year-old male U.S. citizen.

A officer referred the truck for further inspection, which included utilizing non-intrusive imaging equipment and screening by a canine team. After physically inspecting the truck conveyance, officers discovered 91.88 pounds of cocaine concealed within the vehicle.

The next day, on Aug. 25, 2021, officers assigned to the Hidalgo International Bridge encountered a Dodge Journey. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 168.45 pounds of methamphetamine concealed within the vehicle.

Officers seized the narcotics and vehicles. Both drivers were arrested and the cases remain under investigation by agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations.
