JURY CONVICTS MAN OF TRAFFICKING FENTANYL

Date:

Just 2 milligrams of fentanyl can kill a person. That is the size of 2 salt grains. Jermaine Allston, 33, was convicted by a jury on June 28, 2021 for trafficking fentanyl in Charlotte, NC.

Fentanyl is a dangerous drug that is responsible for a significant number of overdose deaths in the United States.

In court Jermaine admitted his status as a habitual felon.

In April 2019, Jermaine was seen exiting a house that was under surveillance for drug activity in Charlotte. An undercover police officer observed Jermaine drive away from the house at a high speed in a residential area.

Jermaine was the only person in the car. Officers in a marked patrol car attempted to stop Jermaine’s car, but he fled recklessly, traveling at high speeds over the speed limit.

Jermaine eluded officers and drove all the way to Concord, NC. With officers still chasing, Jermaine then drove back into Charlotte.

Once stopped in traffic, officers were able to apprehend Jermaine and end the chase. On Jermaine’s passenger seat, police discovered 11.36 grams of fentanyl.

Jermaine was tried for trafficking in fentanyl by possession, trafficking in fentanyl by transportation, and flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle. Jermaine was found guilty on all counts.

A Judge sentenced Jermaine to 127-165 months in prison.
