CHARLOTTE MAN SOLD FENTANYL TO CONFIDENTIAL INFORMANT

On August 13, 2024 Demetrius Mattox, 39, pled guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Demetrius sold fentanyl in Charlotte, NC.

Over the course of a drug investigation into drug trafficking activities in Charlotte, law enforcement identified Demetrius as a local fentanyl distributor.

The Sinaloa drug cartel and CJNG cartel were in Charlotte selling bricks of fentanyl and cocaine, had $2.4 million cash

The investigation determined that Demetrius sold fentanyl and firearms to a confidential source on multiple occasions between September and October 2023.

Gabrielle Thompson, 18, died from a fentanyl drug overdose, she had a young son

Demetruis was arrested in April 2024 charged with trafficking fentanyl. Before trial Demetruis pled guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

A fentanyl drug bust occurred at LongHorn Steak House restaurant in Charlotte

Demetrius is currently in federal custody. The statutory maximum for the charged offense is a minimum of five years and a maximum of life in prison.

A sentencing date has not been set. Fentanyl has taken the lives of so many people in Charlotte.
