$632,000 WORTH OF MARIJUANA SEIZED IN HIDDEN BROCCOLI SHIPMENT

U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility intercepted a significant amount of marijuana valued at $632,000 concealed within a commercial shipment of fresh broccoli on May 16, 2020. The massive drug seizure was in Pharr, TX.

Just before the narcotics discovery, officers referred a commercial shipment of fresh broccoli arriving from Mexico on a tractor-trailer for further examination. Officers then conducted a more thorough inspection that resulted in the discovery of 378 packages of marijuana which weighed 3,159 pounds (1,433 kg).

Officers seized the shipment, the tractor/trailer and the marijuana. Homeland Security will continue with the investigation.
