400 POUNDS OF PACKAGED MARIJUANA FOUND ON TRUCK TRAILER

A large narcotics load near Freer, Texas discovered marijuana hidden in garbage bags.

The incident occurred during the early afternoon of May 11, 2020 when federal agents performed a vehicle stop on a pickup truck hauling a trailer on State Highway 16.  The trailer appeared to be loaded with a stack of plywood. A service canine alerted agents to the trailer.

After further investigation of the cargo, agents discovered 30 bundles of marijuana in a hollowed out space within the stacked plywood. The bundles had a total weight of 485.21 lbs. with an approximate value of $388,168.
