WOMAN KILLED AT BUS STOP ON NORTH TRYON STREET, MAN CONVICTED

Date:

On November 9, 2021 Santario Miller, 36, was sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison after a jury found him guilty of fatally shooting 39-year-old Shalamar Venable at a bus stop in Charlotte, NC.

In May 2018, Santario approached Ms. Venable at a bus stop on North Tryon Street and accused her of stealing from him. Prosecutors say Santario attempted to rob Ms. Venable and produced a handgun, shooting her multiple times at close range.

Ms. Venable was transported to a local hospital but died soon thereafter.

The jury found him guilty as charged. A superior court judge sentenced Santario to life in prison without the possibility of parole, as well as an additional 17-30 months in prison.
