STATE HIGHWAY PATROL TROOPER SHOT DURING PURSUIT

On Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at approximately 4:25 p.m. State Highway Patrol Trooper Kevin Glenn was shot while assisting an law enforcement agency during a vehicle pursuit in Yancey County, NC.

The high speed chase was already in progress. Trooper Kevin was preparing to deploy a tire deflation device when the suspect shot him.

Trooper Kevin was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The suspect is not at large and there is no believed threat to the public at this time.

Trooper Kevin is a nine-year veteran of the Highway Patrol.

Colonel Freddy L. Johnson is the commander of the State Highway Patrol, and says: 

“This serves as a continued reminder of the dangers our Troopers face and the sacrifices they make for the communities they serve. Now is the time to pray for Trooper Glenn, his family and our patrol family during this difficult time.”

State Trooper Christopher L. Wooten was paralyzed during an on duty vehicle collision. 

Master Trooper James Montgomery of the NC Highway Patrol died from COVID-19.

Trooper Adolfo A. Lopez-Alcedo was hit by a car on the highway and sustained serious injuries.
