COP KILLED AT GROCERY STORE, CROOKS TRIED STEALING HIS CAR

A Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy was murdered at a grocery store on March 31, 2022 in Houston, Texas. Darren Almendarez, 51, is the deputy that was killed. Suspects were trying to steal his car.

Darren was off duty and at a grocery store with his wife. Darren was walking to his car in the grocery store parking lot around 8:30 p.m. Deputy Darren saw three suspects gathered around his vehicle trying to steal his catalytic converter.

Darren yelled at the group and one suspect produced a firearm, and started shooting at Darren.

Darren told his wife to run. 2 of the suspects were shot, Darren was also shot.

Darren later died at the hospital. The two shot suspects were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. The third suspect ran from the scene and has not been caught. Darren’s wife was not shot.

Darren was in law enforcement for 23 years, he was in the auto theft unit.
