MAN FOUND NOT GUILTY OF MURDERING 2-YEAR-OLD BOY

On August 26, 2022 a jury found Christopher Sims, 30, not guilty in the 2017 murder of 2-year-old A’dan Blackmon in Charlotte, NC. Christopher was the boyfriend of little A’dan’s mother.

In court Christopher was tried for first degree murder and intentional child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. The jury found Christopher not guilty on all counts.

On June 7, 2017 at 7:03 p.m., officers responded to Carolinas Medical Center after hospital staff reported that they were treating two-year-old A’dan, he was suffering from multiple bodily injuries, including a traumatic brain injury.

Detectives from both homicide and the youth crimes division responded to investigate this incident. Hospital staff informed the detectives that A’dan’s injuries were life threatening and that he was unable to breath on his own.

A’dan later died from the injuries.

During the course of the investigation the child’s mother and her boyfriend, Christopher were interviewed as well as the hospital staff. Police at the time said that Christopher was left alone with A’dan when the injuries occurred.

But trial evidence resulted in Christopher’s favor and he was found not guilty.
