On August 19, 2022 Jamarae Keyes, 38 and Janisha Harris, 35, were killed in a vehicle wreck in Los Angeles at 5:30 a.m. Jamarae and Janisha were innocent drivers that were ran into by a theft suspect identified as 20-year-old Matthew Sutton.
Officers tried pulling over a Cadillac SUV for speeding and committing additional traffic violations. Officers made attempts to stop the Cadillac during this time by activating their police vehicle’s emergency lights and siren independently.
The Cadillac accelerated away from the officers. Moments later the Cadillac collided with a 2014 BMW 535i occupied by Jamarae and Janisha. The 2 victims died on site.
After the collision the driver of the Cadillac identified as Matthew is observed getting out of the driver’s side door and fleeing. Matthew was caught and charged with 2 counts of felony vehicular manslaughter along with other charges.
Jamarae leaves behind five kids and Janisha leaves behind two children.
