Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Officer Nakeya Nelson was arrested on May 14, 2023 in Wrightsville Beach, NC. Officer Nakeya is accused of assaulting someone while she was off duty and out of uniform.
Officer Nakeya was at the beach likely on vacation with others. A physical altercation occurred and someone claimed that they were assaulted by the suspect, according to beach area police.
Officers with the Wrightsville Beach Police Department were called to the scene and Officer Nakeya was arrested charged with assault and battery.
The Internal Affairs Division is conducting an internal investigation regarding the arrest of Officer Nakeya.
Officer Nakeya will be placed on administrative assignment pending the outcome of the CMPD Internal Affairs investigation.
