MAN KILLED IN SWAT STAND-OFF AT WEST CHARLOTTE HOME

Jeremy Asbury, 31, died on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 after he shot himself during a SWAT encounter on Columbus Circle Charlotte, NC.

Jeremy was at a home on Columbus Circle. Cops went there on August 29th to locate him on felony sexual assault warrants. Jeremy had a weapon and barricaded himself in the house when he saw police.

Officers with the SWAT team responded to the call at 8 a.m. 

Detectives and patrol officers tried to speak to Jeremy for an extended period. Officers also coordinated with the suspect’s family and an outside community agency to attempt to contact the suspect and peacefully resolve the situation. 

Attempts to communicate with Jeremy and facilitate a peaceful surrender were unsuccessful.

Shortly after 2 p.m., officers heard a gunshot inside the residence and made entry along with medics.

Jeremy was found with a self inflicted gunshot wound with a firearm present. There were no other subjects inside the residence. 

Jeremy was transported from the scene to the hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.

Jeremy died at the hospital from his injuries.
