Democrat City Council member Tiawana Brown, 55, was sentenced to 10 months in prison on September 22, 2026 in Charlotte, NC for COVID-19 fraud. When Tiawana was first elected to city council a few years ago she said, “This position is a gift from God” Now Tiawana is off to prison again, because she served 4 years in prison for fraud in the 1990s too. In 2023 Tiawana was elected to the Charlotte City Council as the first felon to be be elected to the council in Charlotte history. Tiawana stayed on the city council for around 2 years until she was arrested for COVID-19 fraud.
Tiawana and her daughters fraudulently obtained $45,000 in pandemic assistance cash to throw a $15,000 horseback style birthday party in center city Charlotte, NC. Tiawana is from ghetto housing projects and she is use to jail, some of her family even have been to prison.
During the Coronavirus pandemic Tiawana took out loans and grants from the United States government as EIDL and PPP loans, some of which were not required to be paid back. Tiawana oddly supports Sheriff Garry Mcfadden who is proven to have poor racist stupid leadership and mismanagement in the jail, Garry Mcfadden is a terrible sheriff and was heard on video calling his employees niggers and white employees crackers.
In May 2025 Tiawana and her daughters were arrested charged with Coronavirus fraud etc. In November 2025 Tiawana lost her re-election to city council.

In January 2026 Tiawana pled guilty to COVID-19 fraud. In September 2026 a judge sentenced her to 10 months in prison, even though she asked for probation to run her other business Beauty after the Bars which helps formerly incarcerated women get on their feet.

Tiawana served 4 years in prison for fraud in the 1990s which prompted her to run for city council.
Sheriff Garry Mcfadden will likely be arrested in the future upon the investigation and kicked out of office.
