A suspect was simply parking in a parking lot and cops automatically assumed he was a criminal, cops can not approach for the smell or marijuana alone, hence THCA smells just like marijuana, and THCA is legal
Myles Coleman, 31, was arrested on April 17, 2026 in center city Charlotte on North College Street accused of extensive marijuana possession. Cops approached Myles just for the smell of marijuana which they are not allowed to do. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Around 8 p.m. Myles was driving a Mercedes Benz S 550 on North College Street. Myles turned into a parking lot. Cops saw him in the parking lot and automatically assumed he was a drug dealer or criminal, cops racial profiled Myles.
Cops say the parking lot is known as a high drug and criminal activity area where multiple guns and drugs have been seized in the past by officers, likely from unconstitutional searches.
As officers drove by, a strong odor of marijuana was smelt from the suspect’s Mercedes Benz. Cops say the license plate tag of the vehicle was expired. It is within CMPD police policy to not approach or search someone for the smell of marijuana alone because there are so many legal Hemp, CBD, and THCA products that smell just like marijuana.
Cops say guns and marijuana bags were in view within the car. Cops searched the Mercedes Benz and found a Louis Vuitton bag with $7,707 cash in it. 8 large clear vacuum sealed bags of marijuana were found in the car.
Myles was arrested charged with drug offenses.
