New after death reports show that Yadira Hernandez Castro had extensive liquor in her system when she was found dead in the snow, frozen to death. Yadira was too young for liquor, likely her first time being drunk

Preliminary after death findings by state officials showed some key indications as to how 18-year-old Yadira Hernandez Castro died during a large scale snow storm in Concord, NC on February 2, 2026. The death report indicates the cause of death for Yadira was exposure to extreme cold conditions with alcohol listed as a contributing circumstance.

Yadira went to a friend’s house during a snow storm, the snow was 11 inches deep. Yadira walked to the friend’s house on January 31, 2026.

Charlotte Alerts was the first to report when Yadira was found dead

It is not known exactly where Yadira began drinking alcohol that night, or if she ever even made it to the friend’s house. At some point Yadira consumed alcohol, her drinks were a cocktail of liquor and tequila.

This was likely Yadria’s first time drinking alcohol and getting drunk. Yadria was under the legal age to drink liquor.

Yadira’s drinks were spiked with heavy alcohol. Yadria consumed so much alcohol that she got heavily intoxicated and began to walk back home in the snow at freezing dangerous temperatures.

Yadira had superficial bruises and cuts consistent on her as she walked home. Door bell cameras showed Yadira climbing fences, stumbling, and falling while trying to walk through heavy snow. Her jacket was even ripped while going over a fence.

Yadira was outside for several hours in the cold temperatures drunk trying to walk home. Yadira was lost, dazed, and confused.

Yadira eventually passed out in a wooded area and laid there for days. Yadira froze to death in a matter of hours. Yadira’s family reported her missing after she never came back home.

A search was made, and Yadira was found dead frozen to the touch on February 2, 2026 in a field. She was covered in snow. There were no signs of physical assault or trauma on Yadira’s body.
