MURDER CHARGED DISMISSED ON SUSPECT, VICTIM FOUND DEAD AT WASTE BUSINESS

Date:

Scott was found dead at Waste Connections Queen City Transfer Station. Prosecutors let the suspect walk free after a lack of evidence

25-year-old Andre Poole was arrested accused of the homicide of Scott Howard, 33. Scott was shot and killed at the Waste Connections Queen City Transfer Station in Charlotte, NC. Now in 2024 all murder charges have been dismissed by prosecutors on Andre. Charlotte Alerts is on Instagram.

Andre Poole and Scott Howard

Scott was murdered on December 29, 2022 on Jeff Adams Drive at the entrance of the Waste Connections Queen City Transfer Station.

Detectives were able to determine that Scott had been at a Shell gas station, 2.4 miles away from the waste business on the evening of his death.

Detectives obtained surveillance footage from the Shell gas station. This footage captured Scott riding in the backseat of a Dodge Charger when it left the Shell parking lot.

Cops say Andre was the driver of that Dodge Charger. Detectives obtained surveillance from multiple businesses that captured the Dodge Charger as it traveled from the Shell toward the waste transfer station.

The Waste Connections Queen City Transfer Station does not have any surveillance cameras, but garbage trucks that drive in and out of the station are equipped with dash cameras.

One of these trucks captured the Dodge Charger driving away from the station quickly and with no headlights, at 2:34 AM.

This same truck shows Scott’s body lying in the driveway of the station.

At 3 a.m. on December 29th a witness located the body of Scott in the entrance driveway of the waste business. Scott was shot dead.

Although detectives located and searched Andre, the firearm used to shoot Scott was never recovered.

In 2023 Andre was arrested charged with the murder of Scott. Andre denied involvement with Scott’s death.

While the evidence suggests Andre was likely present at the scene of Scott’s murder, North Carolina state appellate courts have repeatedly held that mere presence at the scene of a crime is not sufficient evidence for a conviction.

Despite conducting an exhaustive investigation, detectives did not uncover any additional evidence that would assist prosecutors and the district attorney in proving who was the perpetrator of this crime.

So in March 2024 prosecutor Jane Collins dismissed the murder charge on Andre.
