Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Officer Vanquez Petty, 31, was arrested on Friday March 1 in a sexual assault case in Charlotte , NC.
On February 28, 2019, Vanquez and a 19-year-old female victim (a stranger to the suspect) met and exchanged telephone numbers.
Vanquez arranged to meet with the victim at her home later that evening. After arriving at the victim’s home later that evening, the victim stated that the Vanquez sexually assaulted her.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment following the incident. Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined that the suspect is an active detention officer with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. The reported incident did not occur when Vanquez was on duty.
