FEMALE BABYSITTER ABUSES TWIN BABIES, CAUGHT ON CAMERA KICKING & COVERING MOUTHS

Date:

A Utah babysitter who was caught on camera kicking and covering the mouths of 5-month-old twins earlier this year was sentenced on October 3 , 2019.

McKenna Newell, 21, will serve 30 days in jail and spend 36 months on probation after pleading guilty to one count of child abuse. McKenna admitted to the abuse after the twins’ father reported her to police in January 2019. He told police a nanny cam had caught McKenna kicking, hitting and covering the noses and mouths of his twin baby girls.

Video shows McKenna kicking the twins several times each.

She’s also seen hitting one of the babies in the leg; shaking one of the infants aggressively, shaking a rocker/bassinet with one baby in it; and sitting one of the twins on a couch aggressively which caused her head to bounce forward.

McKenna was convicted of third-degree felony child abuse.

Judge L. Douglas Hogan sentenced McKenna to a prison term “not to exceed” five years, but ordered the sentence suspended.

McKenna will be required to complete 500 hours of community service, as well as complying with requirements of the Utah Child Abuse registry, among other terms.
