HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH PLEADS GUILTY TO SEX ACTS WITH 2 FEMALE STUDENTS

On November 5, 2019 Jeb Stuart Bass, a former social studies teacher and assistant football and basketball coach at Fred T. Foard High School in Newton, NC pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent liberties with a child and one count of performing a sex act with a student.

The two female victims were 15 and 17 years old at the time of the sex crimes, which occurred in 2015 and 2016. The investigation into the crimes began in May 2017 after the administration of the school received reports of inappropriate conduct between Mr. Bass and students.

The Catawba County Board of Education school district issued a statement regarding Mr. Bass’s arrest:

“Catawba County Board of Education’s policies prohibit any form of sexual misconduct and interaction between students and employees. The Board would like to remind all students to be ever vigilant in immediately reporting any form of sexual misconduct or sexual harassment to their parents and administrators.”

Mr. Bass was sentenced to 32 to 58 months in prison. Mr. Bass is also prohibited from having any contact with the victims and he will be required to register as a sex offender for 30 years.
