CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER AND UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT ARRESTED NEAR USA BORDER

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a previously deported sex offender near Nogales, Arizona on Monday morning November 11, 2019.

Tucson Sector agents patrolling near the border apprehended 35-year-old Santiago Mariano-Aguirre at 8 a.m.

Santiago, a Mexican national illegally present in the United States, was convicted of sex with a minor on September 30, 2005, in Humboldt County, California. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail.

Santiago now faces prosecution for immigration violations.

All persons apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal aliens with criminal histories are positively identified.
