MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER MANHUNT BY FBI AND UNITED STATES MARSHALS

Jaiveon Smith, 18, is charged with the murder of Tevonte Epps, 24. Jaiveon was arrested on March 18, 2020 in Richmond County, Georgia.

On March 16, 2020 Tevonte was shot and killed on Hosta Drive in Charlotte, NC. Patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, officers located Tevonte with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Marshals Service, and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office came together to locate and arrest Jaiveon in Georgia. 

Jaiveon is currently in custody in Georgia. He will be extradited back to Mecklenburg County and charged with murder, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
